The Midrand Chess Club (MCC) will be hosting the MCC Juniors Classical Tournament, a formally rated junior chess tournament aimed at developing young players and expanding access to competitive chess in Midrand and surrounding communities.
The tournament will feature:
Classical time control: 60+60
5 rounds
Multiple age sections (from U20)
Medals and trophies for winners in each age group
Official rating submission to Johannesburg Metro Chess (JMC)
This event is designed not only as a competition, but as a developmental platform to expose young players, particularly from schools in underserved areas, to structured, rated chess.
-Develop strategies for improving workforce skills.
-Partner with educational institutions to increase access to education.
-Provide scholarships, mentorship, and training programs
-Support young entrepreneurs with training, mentorship, and funding access.
-Facilitate incubation programs for startups
-Establish a resource center for career guidance, training, and job opportunities.
-Provide digital and vocational training programs
-Advocate for policies that support youth employment.
-Connect young people with employment opportunities.
-Collaborate with the private sector to create job readiness programs.
-Offer soft skills training (CV writing, interviews, workplace etiquette).
